Mazda or Mazda Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational automaker. Mazda began as a cork-making factory in Hiroshima, Japan in 1920 under the name Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd. It became a vehicle manufacturer in 1931. The company formally adopted the Mazda name in 1984, though every vehicle they ever made bore the name. They formally entered the American market in 1970. From 1974 to 2015 they had a partnership with Ford. In May 2015, they formed a partnership with Toyota. Their racecar subdivision is called Mazdaspeed, though their models still bear the name Mazda.
